Urban Skyline and the Verticalizationof European Cities

h. 15-17 Castello del Valentino, Sala Vigliano

European cities are experiencing a renewed interest for verticalization. It has reached unprecedented proportions in a significant number of cities, reflecting as much a change in economic and political contexts as the persistence of some representations. Manuel Appert, associate professor of geography and planning at Université Lyon-2, has recently worked on the spatial and territorial incidences of urban verticalization, and on the regulation of tall buildings in London and other cities, leading the international “Skyline” Project.
The lecture is scheduled by the PhD Course Urban landscape. Trends, approaches, and planning tools (prof. C. Cassatella), but open for interested people.
