Abstract
The Western Balkans have been under mounting pressure in handling the geographies of migration toward Fortress Europe. Since 2018, Bosnia and Herzegovina in particular has had to bear the brunt of this influx, with neither international nor local authorities responding humanely to the situation. This talk will focus on the archipelago of camps, the bordering practices and the sovereign forms of detention and abandonment that have shaped today’s dire conditions for migrants trying “The Game”, while discussing broader implications for other Southern European migration routes.
