Antidiscrimination in education: Ukrainian experience

h. 12:00 | DIGEP B room, Politecnico di Torino - ONLINE

During this seminar, Mariya Shcherbyna (PhD in Philosophy of Culture) will present two of his research projects. The first one addresses the relationship between educational content and gender stereotypes as part of mythological thinking, and which create paradigmatic patterns of perception and behavior. For this reason, it is crucial to speak about the origin and nature of gender stereotypes, and about strategies how to change them, as well as to identify discriminatory language and discriminatory representations in textbooks and suggest practical ways to modify the content. The second project deals with role models as an opportunity to change young people's perceptions of women's roles and women in science and philosophy.
She will present an educational art project for the Ukrainian Museum of Gender and Women's History (Gendermuseum) and on the opportunities to implement this experience at the Politecnico.
