La arquitectura religiosa de la modernidad canónica / Sacred architecture of canonical modernity

La IX edición de los CIARC, que se celebrará en San Juan de Puerto Rico del 20 al 22 de noviembre de 2025, estará dedicada al estudio de la arquitectura religiosa de la modernidad canónica, esto es, la construida entre 1925 y 1975. Cada autor deberá enfocarse en el análisis de un solo edificio dedicado al culto que esté incluido en este perido histórico. También podrán admitirse análisis territoriales sistemáticos, especialmente sobre aquellas regiones donde este tipo de estudio aún no se ha realizado. Cada comunicación deberá apoyarse en fuentes inéditas, preferiblemente archivísticas o personales, y revelar las historias que subyacen detrás de cada caso. Historias que cuenten el proceso de su construcción, de su adecuación al contexto natural y social, de su encaje con la evolución de la liturgia o de los procesos —a veces extremadamente delicados— de su conservación o restauración. Historias personales o colectivas que giran alrededor de obras arquitectónicas que, en su momento, reflejaron el sentir de una comunidad, la visión artística de un arquitecto o la perspectiva teológica de una confesión religiosa; unas obras que tenemos el deber de conocer y preservar para las generaciones futuras. The IX edition of the CIARC, to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, November 20-22, 2025, will be devoted to the study of canonical modern sacred architecture, that is, architecture built between 1925 and 1975. Each author should focus on the analysis of a single building dedicated to worship that is included in this historical period. Systematic territorial analyses may also be accepted, especially in those regions where this type of study has not yet been carried out. The paper should rely on unpublished sources, preferably archival or personal, and reveal the stories behind each case. Stories that tell of the process of its construction, of its adaptation to the natural and social context, of its fit with the evolution of the liturgy or of the processes -sometimes extremely delicate- of its conservation or restoration. Personal or collective stories that revolve around architectural works that, at the time, reflected the feelings of a community, the artistic vision of an architect or the theological perspective of a religious denomination; works that we have the duty to know and preserve for future generations.
